Swiss German vs. Standard German
In German-speaking Switzerland, most people use Swiss German (dialect) in daily life. In schools and with authorities, Standard German is used. In the media: news and daily newspapers are in Standard German; many radio and TV programs (entertainment, regional magazines) are in Swiss German.
