German Courses A2 in Kreuzlingen (A2.1 & A2.2)

You already have basic knowledge and want to become more confident in everyday life and work in Switzerland? The A2 courses (A2.1 and A2.2) build on your A1 skills.

Language level A2 consists of two consecutive courses: A2.1 and A2.2. After a free placement check, you join the course that fits you directly.

What you can do after level A2

After completing both A2 courses (A2.1 and A2.2), you can communicate in many everyday situations in Switzerland:

  • Have everyday conversations in shops, at the doctor and with authorities
  • Fill in forms and write short messages or emails
  • Understand apartment listings and respond to an apartment offer
  • Read job advertisements and make simple phone calls with employers
  • Plan excursions, book hotels and find your way in Switzerland
  • Understand simple letters from authorities and banks
  • Handle banking matters and use services

Which courses belong to level A2?

Level A2 consists of two sub-courses that build on each other:

  • A2.1 – Everyday life and services in Switzerland
  • A2.2 – Expressing yourself more precisely

You do not have to start with A2.1: if you already have solid A2 basics, you can join A2.2 directly after a free placement check.

Course A2.1 – Everyday life and services in Switzerland

In course A2.1, you expand your vocabulary for important everyday situations and life together in Switzerland.

For example, you learn:

  • How to report everyday experiences and give reasons
  • How to understand apartment listings and discuss house rules (laundry room, etc.)
  • How to have conversations in restaurants and talk about food and drinks
  • How to understand conditions and advice in everyday work situations
  • How to talk about sports and leisure activities in Switzerland
  • How to talk about your educational path and learn about the Swiss school system

Grammar & language:

  • Subordinate clauses with «weil», «wenn», «dass» (e.g. Ich bin traurig, weil …)
  • Reflexive verbs (e.g. ich freue mich)
  • Two-way prepositions (e.g. auf den Tisch legen – auf dem Tisch stehen)
  • Simple past of modal verbs (e.g. ich musste, ich konnte)

Course A2.2 – Expressing yourself more precisely

In course A2.2, you learn to express yourself more precisely and to communicate confidently in more demanding situations – such as at the post office, at the bank or while traveling.

For example, you learn:

  • How to talk about wishes and weekend plans
  • How to describe, compare and evaluate objects
  • How to send parcels at the post office and ask for information
  • How to plan trips in Switzerland, book hotels and discuss travel destinations
  • How to handle banking matters and ask about conditions

Grammar & language:

  • Expressing wishes and polite suggestions (e.g. Ich hätte gern…, Du könntest…)
  • Using adjectives correctly before nouns (e.g. ein neuer Laden, das schöne Haus)
  • The passive voice (e.g. Das wird hier hineingeschrieben)
  • Indirect questions (e.g. Können Sie mir sagen, was ich tun muss?)

Prices & group size

Our A2 courses (A2.1 and A2.2) take place in small groups:

  • Maximum 8 participants per group – so you get enough speaking time
  • 20 CHF per lesson (45 min.), 56 lessons per course
  • The course book is included in the course price

Depending on the course format, one sub-course (A2.1 or A2.2) lasts:

  • Intensive course: Mon–Fri, approx. 4–8 weeks
  • Afternoon and evening courses: 2–3× per week, approx. 9–14 weeks
  • Saturday course: approx. 16–21 weeks
