German Courses B2 in Kreuzlingen (B2.1.1 – B2.2.2)

Language level B2 consists of four consecutive courses: B2.1.1, B2.1.2, B2.2.1 and B2.2.2. After a free placement check, you join the course that fits you directly.

What you can do after level B2

After completing all B2 courses, you can express yourself fluently and in a differentiated way in German:

  • Present your own viewpoints clearly and in detail
  • Understand news, specialist articles and literature
  • Write professional correspondence and reports
  • Actively participate in discussions on various topics
  • Converse spontaneously and fluently, also with native speakers
  • Work toward requirements for many Swiss universities and qualified professions

Which courses belong to level B2?

Level B2 consists of four sub-courses that build on each other:

  • B2.1.1 – Work and media
  • B2.1.2 – Society and science
  • B2.2.1 – Economy and technology
  • B2.2.2 – Culture, law and formal communication

You do not have to start with B2.1.1: if you already have prior B2 knowledge, you can join the suitable course directly after a free placement check.

Course B2.1.1 – Work and media

In course B2.1.1, you learn to express yourself confidently in professional contexts and to analyze media content critically.

For example, you learn:

  • How to conduct job interviews and write professional emails
  • How to present ideas in a structured way and discuss in teams
  • How to analyze newspaper articles and formulate your own viewpoints
  • How to understand and summarize news broadcasts

Grammar & language:

  • Complex sentence structures with different conjunctions
  • Nominalization (using verbs and adjectives as nouns)

Course B2.1.2 – Society and science

In course B2.1.2, you deepen your knowledge of social and scientific topics and learn to express positions in a nuanced way.

For example, you learn:

  • How to discuss health trends and understand popular science texts
  • How to discuss topics such as integration, generational conflicts and social change
  • How to give nuanced advice and justify opinions
  • How to write longer texts on social topics

Grammar & language:

  • Correct use of reported speech (Konjunktiv I)
  • Advanced passive constructions

Course B2.2.1 – Economy and technology

In course B2.2.1, you learn to understand complex factual texts and express yourself in economic and technical contexts.

For example, you learn:

  • How to understand specialist texts, summarize them and discuss technological developments
  • How to analyze economic interrelations and understand business reports
  • How to describe and interpret charts and statistics
  • How to explain complex issues orally and in writing

Grammar & language:

  • Participial constructions (e.g. die im Vertrag genannten Bedingungen)
  • Concessive and modal subordinate clauses

Course B2.2.2 – Culture, law and formal communication

In course B2.2.2, you refine your written and oral argumentation for academic and professional requirements.

For example, you learn:

  • How to describe cultural experiences in a nuanced way and review books or films
  • How to understand contracts in principle and write formal correspondence
  • How to discuss political systems and defend viewpoints
  • How to write coherent, well-structured texts on complex topics

Grammar & language:

  • Fixed noun-verb combinations (e.g. in Betracht ziehen, zur Verfügung stellen)
  • Text cohesion and coherence in longer texts

Integrated exam training

Targeted exam training is an integral part of our B2 courses. You regularly practice with exam tasks and learn the formats used in telc B2 and Goethe B2:

  • Listening and reading comprehension under exam conditions
  • Writing: discussions, reports and formal writing in exam format
  • Speaking: discussions, presentations and negotiations as in the oral exam
  • Time management and exam strategies

Prices & group size

Our B2 courses take place in small groups:

  • Maximum 8 participants per group – so you get enough speaking time
  • 20 CHF per lesson (45 min.), 40 lessons per course
  • The course book is included in the course price

Depending on the course format, one sub-course lasts:

  • Intensive course: Mon–Fri, approx. 4–8 weeks
  • Afternoon and evening courses: 2–3× per week, approx. 9–14 weeks
  • Saturday course: 1× per week, approx. 16–21 weeks
